Changing perspective
Living well encompasses all areas of life, not just our exercise habits or our choices for dinner. It also involves our emotional health. In fact, if our emotions are not well, all other area of our lives will suffer.
Begin by taking a look at how you respond to stress. Do you snap easily over small things? Do you feel overwhelmed most of the time? These are indicators that you may benefit from some attention to your emotional health.
We all desire a peaceful home environment and love from our families. Sometimes changing our perspective can begin the process of changing our emotional health.
Instead of thinking of the daily tasks we perform as requirements or drudgery try thinking of them as acts of love toward yourself and your family. Think of something good about each family member as you fold their laundry, work at your job, or mow the lawn. Remind yourself that you are working toward a loving home environment for you and your family.
We all know it's difficult to show love to others if we do not first show love toward ourselves. Think for a moment about the last nice thing you did for you. It can be something as simple as reading a book, going for a walk, or taking yourself out for coffee.
Don't let yourself feel guilty for taking care of you. You are not being selfish, you are actually boosting your emotional health by taking care of yourself. Then you will be on your way to becoming more emotionally healthy for you and for your loved ones.
